MRA recently helped House of Hackney founders, Frieda Gormley and Javvy M Royle to renovate their Victorian townhouse 'Loddiges', with a design inspired as an homage to the historic nursery of the same name. The original Loddiges was a world-renowned Victorian nursery garden and hot house which once stood on the site of Hackney Town Hall, and has proven to be a long-standing source of fascination for the brand.
The redesign of the ground floor opened up the original hallway to the newly extended kitchen, with its orangery-inspired doors and roof lanterns allowing light to flood in. Plants fill the spaces and reflect the abundance of pattern and print, showcasing some of House of Hackney's many vibrant designs.
Frieda and Javvy's love of botanicals and desire to bring a sense of the outdoors inside was the driving theme behind the design, and also their most popular collections. After working on House of Hackney's flagship store and concessions, it was inspiring to be involved in such a personal project.
